Call For Artists!
Each season WCD provides multiple entry points for artists to connect, perform and create with WCD. This season we are thrilled to offer our second submission-based, mainstage opportunity and are excited to see who may join us! WCD’s 26/27 Call to Artists opens the stage to contemporary dance works that are motivated by our current times; and bring something new to Winnipeg audiences.

WCD is looking to program 1 to 2 contemporary dance artists for presentation February 6 to 7, 2027 at the Rachel Browne Theatre in Winnipeg, Canada. These works will be presented as part of WCD’s 62nd Subscription Series.

Applications are open to performance-ready, full length works and/or works that will present well on a mixed program with one other work. Artists who may wish to present work alongside another artist are welcome to apply together or separately. That being said, only one application per lead artist(s) will be accepted.

Full length works will ideally be approximately 50 to 65 minutes in length; shorter works will ideally be 20 to 30 minutes in length. Applicants who do not reside in Winnipeg, must be available to be in Winnipeg February 4 to 7, 2027 and commit to this project inclusively during those dates, with performances occurring February 6 at 7:30pm and February 7 at 4:00pm, planning for a February 8 departure. An open/ticketed dress rehearsal may also be scheduled on Friday, February 5 at 7:30pm.

Individuals and groups may submit works to be considered.
