Call for WCD Board of Directors
Who we are:
Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers is a not-for-profit organization & registered charity dedicated to contemporary dance.
Founded in 1964, Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers is Canada’s longest running contemporary dance company. The company creates, produces and presents contemporary dance with a view to advance the art form for professional artists and audiences alike.
The company presents an annual subscription series, operates the Rachel Browne Theatre, and is under the leadership of its Artistic Director; Jolene Bailie, appointed 2019. To find out more about Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers please visit the site.
Who we are looking for:
WCD is looking for individuals with diverse backgrounds and experience and who have a strong commitment to fulfill WCD’s mission.
Of particular interest are those with legal experience, financial/accounting, fundraising, and/or human resources skills and experience. Ideally, these individuals will have board experience and an interest in Winnipeg’s arts community.
What is involved:
We ask board members to commit approximately four to eight hours each month to board activities, including meetings. Board meetings are held in person and online, in Winnipeg, ten times per year (no meetings in July and August). These are volunteer positions with no financial compensation. Board members are requested to attend or support WCD events and promote them within their communities. Board members are encouraged to assist with revenue-building opportunities, including fundraising.
