About WCD
Canada’s longest running contemporary dance company, WCD is celebrating its 61st season, showcasing new and dynamic works featuring local artists.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and energetic Arts Administrator to provide temporary support to the organization during its 61st season. Join a core team of three dedicated professionals who work together to deliver WCD’s project-based programming.
The successful candidate will play a central role in the day-to-day operations of our organization, working closely with the Artistic Director, Board of Directors, and key stakeholders to ensure the effective management of administrative, financial, and communications functions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administration & Financial Management
-Oversee all general administrative functions of the organization.
-Manage the organization’s budget, including payroll, bookkeeping, artist payments, and financial recordkeeping.
-Prepare regular financial and budget reports for the Artistic Director and Board of Directors.
Box Office & Ticket Sales
-Manage ticket sales via the website, phone, and in-person channels for all performances.
Marketing & Communications
-Maintain and update the organization’s website, email newsletters, and social media platforms.
-Liaise with the communications contractor to support promotional efforts and campaigns.
Fundraising & Donor Relations
-Assist with donor correspondence, stewardship activities, and grant reporting.
-Support relationship management with funding organizations and individual donors.
Facility & Event Management
-Oversee facility operations, including managing suppliers, and service agreements.
-Manage rental agreements and maintain relationships with renters of the Rachel Browne Theatre.
-Organize and coordinate volunteers for performances and other WCD events.
Governance & Board Support
-Keep the Board of Directors informed and respond to their requests as needed.
-Organize and attend monthly Board meetings; prepare necessary documentation.
Event Support
-Work all WCD performances and events as scheduled, providing on-site administrative and operational support.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in arts administration or a similar administrative role.
- Strong organizational, financial management, and communication skills.
- Solid bookkeeping knowledge.
- Experience with ticketing, email marketing, and website maintenance platforms (e.g., Eventbrite, MailChimp, WordPress).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- An understanding of and passion for the arts sector.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a term position for approximately two months, with the possibility of extension into 2026. The work will be completed at the WCD offices for approximately 30 hours per week. Some evening and weekend availability is required for performances and events.
COMPENSATION: $25-$30 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
