Don't miss our Derring DO!

February 14th, 2010 at the West End Cultural Centre.
A fundraiser for Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers.

Many of you are familiar with our biennial event and know full well what a fabulous time it can be. For those of you still scratching your noggin at Derring DO, let us explain.

The term Derring DO (and its unique spelling) originates from the 1300's and was first a reference to 'ye olde swordplay and the like'... the performance of heroic feats and brave actions. Swashbuckling!

WCD's version is a feast of entertainment, chance & artistic risk. Those in attendance at our Derring DO bid to become one of a handful of participants who will win the opportunity to create/perform with a local artist. Yes, you are bidding on a creative journey to be guided by experienced hands from a variety of disciplines. While those lucky few are off rehearsing or otherwise creating a work of art the rest of the audience will enjoy the music of Jessee Havey and J D Edwards, a new work by WCD Artistic Director Brent Lott, and the chance at this year's event to Tango with your Valentine. Risk takers who won their artistic opportunity then return to the stage to unveil their work to all and take a well deserved bow. The evening wraps up with the big sound and funk/soul stylings of The Solutions as we party away the evening.

The Derring DO is on Valentines Day so it is indeed a fabulous and fun event to treat your favourite person too while supporting Canada's oldest modern dance company but better still... the following day, Monday February 15th, is Louis Riel Day.

Yes, it is a long weekend so you can enjoy yourself and sleep in the next day!
