Our season opens with Freya Björg Olafson's AVATAR. This presentation is part of an ongoing series that explores methods of creating, validating and disseminating one’s identity through the use of technology and the Internet. The work is inspired by the mantra 'I post therefore I am' whereby Internet users legitimize their existence by documenting their lives and uploading this media to personal webpages and blogs.

Freya blends 6 years classical training in the Professional Program of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet with the contemporary facility achieved through her completion of B.A.Honours in dance through the School of Contemporary Dancers and the University of Winnipeg.

The show opens with Marc Boivin, associated with numerous choreographic voices for 25 years, taking to the stage with Impact. Alone but guided by all, the creator and sole performer bears witness in his piece to the legacy of others, the power of transmission and the impact that beings have on one another.

After the intermission EDAM Dance takes the stage performing a beautifully crafted quartet by Peter Bingham. Slip is inspired by the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.

May 5, 6, 7 & 8 - 8pm
3pm Matinée on May 9th

The Rachel Browne Theatre

Brent Lott’s new full length work arises out of his interest in humanity's attempt to make sense of our place and function in the universe.   Between the Sycamore conjures a world that blurs the lines between sacred narrative and natural law.   Join us for this bird’s-eye view in to a community of individuals organized by imagery drawn from Egyptian mythology and the lifecycle of the Scarab Beetle.
