Kristin Haight

Kristin's dance training began in 1988 at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and in 1996, she transferred into the School of Contemporary Dancers (SCD) Senior Professional Program.  A graduate of that program for 9 years, she has danced independently for various Canadian choreographers.  Kristin has also danced for TRIP Dance Company, NAfro Dance Productions, Mouvement Winnipeg Dance Projects, and Ruth Cansfield Dance.  She has performed in Northern Manitoba, Vancouver's Dancing On The Edge Festival, Regina's Stream of Dance Festival, Kuan Du Arts Festival in TaiPei, Taiwan, and the 2008 Canada Dance Festival in Ottawa.  In addition to performing, Kristin is assistant to Rachel Browne in documenting and editing her archives. She received a BA Honours in Dance through the University of Winnipeg in affiliation with SCD, with the Gold Medal Award.

Lise McMillan 

Lise graduated from the School of Contemporary Dancers and the University of Winnipeg with a B.A. Honours degree in Dance in 2007.  She first performed with WCD in her graduating year and joined the company the following season as company apprentice. Independantly, she has performed with NAfro Dance, Stephanie Ballard, Natasha Torres-Garner, Christina Medina, and Luis Sala. In fall 2007 Lise did a residency under Liz King at D.ID in Pinkafeld, Austria and performed in Christina Medina's Elements for @tendance-Tanztheatre in Graz, Austria. Most recently, she worked with the youth choir Prairie Voices on choreography for their piece The Lioness Hunt.  She has taught dance in the Louis Riel School Division and is currently planning to bring art to education in rural Kenya.

Johanna Riley

Johanna is a 2002 graduate of the Senior Professional Program of the School of Contemporary Dancers, with B.A. Honours in Dance from the University of Winnipeg. Upon graduation she apprenticed for Ruth Cansfield Dance, and went on to work with Sylvain Emard Danse in Montreal. She has enjoyed a relationship with Calgary-based choreographer Davida Monk since 2003, whose work she has performed in Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, and Toronto. She is also a founding member of Young Lungs Dance Exchange in Winnipeg, through which she has developed skills in the roles of choreographer, performer, teacher, and producer. Johanna is very happy to be in her fourth season with Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers.

Sarah Roche

Sarah graduated from the Senior Professional Program of the School of Contemporary Dancers, with a B.A. Honours in dance from the University of Winnipeg.  She began working with WCD in 2006 performing works by Rachel Browne, Susie Burpee, David Earle, Brent Lott, and Sharon B. Moore.  Sarah has completed project work with TRIP Dance, Mouvement Winnipeg Dance projects, Davida Monk, and Giana Sherbo. In addition to performing Sarah enjoys teaching and bringing the creative ideas of dance and body awareness to students of all ages.  She has taught and choreographed in rural Manitoba, at the School of Contemporary Dancers, and here in Winnipeg School Division with Learning Through The Arts. 

 

 COMPANY APPRENTICE

Lindsay Alford

Lindsay is a recent graduate of the Senior Professional Program of the School of Contemporary Dancers. She is apprenticing with Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers (WCD) for the 2009/2010 season. As a work placement student Lindsay served as the understudy for Serge Bennathan's, Samarcande, a full length work choreographed for WCD. Lindsay has performed with @tendance/C. Medina in Backstage Pass (June 2009) and 2 Scan Deep (November 2009 and February 2010). Lindsay is also a 2006 graduate of the MainDance Bridging Program. She has performed at the Canada Dance Festival, dancing works by Sarah Chase (2006), Tedd Robinson and Stephanie Ballard (2008). She has also performed with Boca del Lupo theatre company in Vancouver, BC.
